"Fake News" and the 1st Amendment

For those of you who know this episode, I know that the conversation is much longer than this quote, but I think it sums it up well.

Trump and Weyoun have the same idea about what news should be published.  Or in Trump's case, since he has no control over what news is published, what he defines as "fake news".

I have never lived in times that I had to worry about political bullshit. I do now.  And one of the reasons is that we as individuals and a country do not agree on what is true. I don't know that this started with Trump and his "fake news", but the result is that this may not be a hurdle that we as a country can overcome.

It has gotten worse since Trump was voted out of office.  We should never forget January 6, 2021.

Does Twitter deleting someone's account because they repeatedly broke the platform's rules really infringe on an individuals free speech?

I don't think so, particularly when the content of a person's tweets are not only false but a direct danger to our democracy.  

I may be wrong.  I consider that, because it is important that I be honest with myself about my biases.

CONSPIRACY: TRUMP IS THE HOSTILE LIFEFORM

  TNG S1EP25 "CONSPIRACY" I think this compilation is plenty much self explanatory.  But in case it is not: 1. Trump is the hostile lifeform that infects has infected the Republican Party and his many worshipers, i.e. the hostile lifeform that infects Starfleet at the highest levels so they make decisions that will only hurt them and help the hostile lifeform to survive. 2. The Republican Party has been infected.  And the hostile lifeform has manifested itself in the many acolytes Trump has in the Republican Party, but the so many in the Republican Congress have forgotten that they are civil servants, and their purpose is not to achieve POWER but as a PUBLIC SERVANT THAT SHOULD REPRESENT THEIR CONSTITUENCY.  And that constituency is not the 1% and rich corporations who they love to give tax breaks to or is it to destroy America's DEMOCRACY.  That is exactly what Trump wants to do, which should have been obvious in the events leading up to the 2016 election, but ...

DS9 Babel : Pandemic on a space station

  I think this one is pretty obvious, except, they create a cure not a vaccine.  And there were comedic moments, which would seriously help in real life.     I was also wondering why they didn't wear masks once they knew it was an airborne disease.    We are living in HISTORIC TIMES.   Eventually this shit will be in American History text books or at least pdf files, or whatever they have. I mean, it takes several Star Trek episodes to touch on each issue.  For some reason this situation was reminding me of The Faint's album Danse Macabre, Pandemic on the Dance Floor.  I just looked up the meaning/translation of danse macabre: dance of death.  The history of the term does not apply to this situation but the meaning of certain phrases do evolve with the times, so it may very well come to apply to our current situation.
