Star Trek

  TNG S1EP25 "CONSPIRACY" I think this compilation is plenty much self explanatory.  But in case it is not: 1. Trump is the hostile lifeform that infects has infected the Republican Party and his many worshipers, i.e. the hostile lifeform that infects Starfleet at the highest levels so they make decisions that will only hurt them and help the hostile lifeform to survive. 2. The Republican Party has been infected.  And the hostile lifeform has manifested itself in the many acolytes Trump has in the Republican Party, but the so many in the Republican Congress have forgotten that they are civil servants, and their purpose is not to achieve POWER but as a PUBLIC SERVANT THAT SHOULD REPRESENT THEIR CONSTITUENCY.  And that constituency is not the 1% and rich corporations who they love to give tax breaks to or is it to destroy America's DEMOCRACY.  That is exactly what Trump wants to do, which should have been obvious in the events leading up to the 2016 election, but ...

  Trump was playing a game. I'm not sure he had a good plan for winning. He was very disruptive.   I have never been political or religious.  I'm still not either but I have been watching the news since the voting. You can't help but get a little political but it is really because I can think of Star Trek episodes that apply to what is going on. Of course, "The Game/The Brainwashing Takeover" doesn't end this way, it has an ending that is one of the reasons I like Star Trek.  It reminds us that low key leaders are leaders.  You don't have to be all bluster and no facts.  You don't have to call names, like playground Bully name calling.  And, the ridiculously non-Presidential tweets.  Not even any idea about the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.  I don't have any idea what Trump cared about, but I have a theory.  He saw himself as the Trump Dynasty but that his children would continue it, we would be ruled by a fucked up family....

  I have been watching CNN since the damn election.  Before that I never did, maybe when Obama was elected.  But, I really couldn't accept that the Donald was our fucking president, so I tried to ignore it.  I didn't follow him on twitter, I don't even use twitter, although I have an account from way back. One of the talking heads on the news channel used the term Disease of Division and I automatically thought of Dramatis Personae. Off course, at the end of the episode we see the physical disease leave the bodies of those affected as a willowy green gas.

  I love how all of the people giving speeches in Star Trek books start with Gentlebeings.  It is very inclusive. And we are all really just finding the best way to get through this thing called Life.  We can agree on that. You don't have to hate people, The Other, to accomplish that goal.  You have to work to accomplish this goal, but you don't have to hate.

  I love Sisko's logical Starfleet answer.  I intentionally didn't put the Federation in the first sentence, because it is a political body and takes a long time to come to decisions - government doesn't change.  The Federation encompasses a lot of worlds and allies. This falls in my category A Country Divided. I think this episode, "In the Hands of the Prophets" 1x20, in 2021 I've renamed this episode A Space Station  Divided.  

  I think this one is pretty obvious, except, they create a cure not a vaccine.  And there were comedic moments, which would seriously help in real life.     I was also wondering why they didn't wear masks once they knew it was an airborne disease.    We are living in HISTORIC TIMES.   Eventually this shit will be in American History text books or at least pdf files, or whatever they have. I mean, it takes several Star Trek episodes to touch on each issue.  For some reason this situation was reminding me of The Faint's album Danse Macabre, Pandemic on the Dance Floor.  I just looked up the meaning/translation of danse macabre: dance of death.  The history of the term does not apply to this situation but the meaning of certain phrases do evolve with the times, so it may very well come to apply to our current situation.
